We will get through this, BUT........one problem with democracy is that when it's working really well, 80% of the people lose interest in following it. They don't feel the need to pay attention to what the government is doing. It's only when things get really bad that it, once again, becomes personally interesting. It's time to teach ALL the children how democracy works AND MOST IMPORTANT, have them practice democracy in grade school from at least the 5th grade on. So you are now asking yourself, how do we do that? Simple. Let the kids debate a simple issue like, what's a better game, soccer or football. Then take a vote. Doesn't matter who wins; it only matters that they thought about comparing two related things, discussed the positive and negative points of both, and then made a logical DECISION and VOTED based on the arguments. Practice makes perfect. At least once a week, in every grade school in America.
